Investing in Strong Neighbourhoods

Pam is committed to building inclusive neighbourhoods through needed services and creating opportunities for everyone by

  • Continuing to provide leadership to increase access to recreation programs
  • Enhancing and expanding programs for seniors
  • Continuing to encourage job training and local employment for both adults and youth in large projects, building on the successes in Regent Park
  • Continuing to improve connectivity and quality of cycling infrastructure

 

Pam McConnell has been a driving force in the Regent Park revitalization since its very beginning. Pam works with residents to deliver facilities, services, and high quality housing to transform this neighbourhood into a prosperous, mixed income community.

A City That Succeeds

Pam is committed to making sure the City’s budget invests in social and physical infrastructure by

  • Providing leadership on prioritizing necessary repairs for Toronto Community Housing buildings
  • Continuing to support new revenue options to keep property taxes affordable and avoiding punitive user fees
  • Increasing community involvement in TTC planning and decision-making
  • Continuing to stand up for keeping City assets and municipal services in public ownership

 

Pam McConnell brought together stakeholders to plan the new St. Lawrence North Market. Pam championed this city building initiative by securing the financing and keeping the redevelopment on schedule.

Pam McConnell fought to build the community centre to provide recreation programs and a library for St. James Town. Pam never gave up on delivering the aquatic centre, which is now funded and ready to be built.

Working Together

Pam is committed to ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to be an active participant in the future of our community by

  • Providing leadership in bringing together residents, community groups, and City staff to work on new projects and improvements
  • Continuing to hold town hall meetings to consult on the City’s budget
  • Continuing to provide support and assistance in accessing city services
  • Continuing to explore options for democratic reform in municipal elections

 

Pam McConnell worked with the community to create a comprehensive precinct plan for the West Don Lands. Pam’s leadership provided a clear vision for building a successful community, accelerated by the Pan Am Games development.

Pam McConnell continues to lead the fight on City Council against jets and Island Airport expansion. Pam continues to stand with residents to protect the Islands as a destination for everyone to enjoy.
